Cheltenham Crematorium, Bouncers Lane

The cemetery at Bouncers Lane was originally opened in 1867 and is currently just under 70 acres in size. It has dedicated areas for burials of multi faith groups and also  lovely gardens of remembrance for cremated remains and various memorial options. The site is classed as a grade II listed park. The Crematorium at Bouncers Lane first opened in 1938 but now uses two contemporary chapels for services to accommodate different needs. The Oak Chapel is the larger, with a capacity of 150. The Willow Chapel has a capacity of 75. A quiet room is available off the main room. In both Chapels music is available either through a state-of-the-art AV system or by use of the chapel organ. Each Chapel has their own independent waiting room with a vending machine supplying freshly brewed tea, coffee and hot chocolate along with a water dispenser. We also have a small intimate Sanctuary Chapel for use for baby funerals that can accommodate up to four people.  The small catafalque in the Sanctuary Chapel can be moved to either chapel. Classic Services are arranged at 45 minute intervals with the actual service taking up to 35 minutes. The moment of committal is signified by the closing of the curtains. At Bouncers Lane, the gardens of remembrance are used for the dignified and reverent disposal of cremation ashes and are planted with trees and shrub beds. Two ponds, one formal with a fountain, add to the tranquility. A natural stream, flowing from the foot of the hills, winds its way through the gardens where it is crossed by the Cotswold stone foot bridges. All floral tributes are removed seven days after the cremation service to ensure that a high standard is maintained in the gardens. The method of disposal for the cremated remains is entirely the choice of the bereaved relatives. It can involve: Scattering in our Cheltenham Gardens of Remembrance either without an appointment to witness and therefore performed at our convenience but usually by two weeks after the cremation or with an appointment to witness the scattering. Appointments can be made to witness the scattering of the remains. Families may wish to engage the services of a minister for the simple ceremony. Cremated remains may also be removed for the family's own private disposal. Interment in a cremated remains grave or a full size grave which are located at either Cheltenham or Charlton Kings cemetery with prior consent from the registered holder of the Exclusive Rights. All interments are overseen by a member of our bereavement services team. Placement in a below ground vault or above ground niche located within the cemetery grounds, or within our Gardens of Remembrance at Cheltenham cemetery. All placements are overseen by a member of our bereavement services team.

Webcasting Services

We work with select providers to offer webcasting and recording services so that families can capture funeral services for those who cannot physically attend. Services are captured by a discreetly located camera at the back of the chapel, allowing friends and families to be a part of the service without ever leaving their home.  The funeral service can be watched live on any digital device.
