Worthing Crematorium is owned and administered by Worthing Borough Council. It is ideally situated just 9 miles from the centre of Worthing on a secluded country estate of 42 acres (see history), of which 9½ acres have been developed as Gardens of Remembrance including the Wall of Remembrance and Open Book.
As only a small part has been developed the remainder is original woodland which enhance the tranquil atmosphere of the grounds. Vibrant swathes of daffodils and other wild flowers appear during the spring and a wide variety of birds and animals visit the area year round. The Muntham Chapel
The Muntham Chapel is the original crematorium chapel. It provides a peaceful area in which to hold a funeral service and was named after the ancient estate that used to exist on the site.
Facilities in the Muntham complex include:
- Comfortable seating for 74 people
- Standing space for an additional 40 people
- External speaker system
- Digital piano (Roland HPi7F-RW)
- Wesley music, media and web broadcast systems which use Bose speakers
- 1 x 60″ display screen
- Waiting room featuring a water cooler and 1 x 50″ display screen
- Unisex toilet facilities
- Induction loop for the hearing impaired
- Large print books (available on request)
- Velvet and voile curtains
- Vestry
- Service / hymn books
Kingswood Chapel
The Kingswood Chapel was added to the Crematorium complex in 2007 in order to accommodate larger numbers of mourners. It was named after the surrounding ancient woodland and provides a peaceful area in which to hold a funeral service.
Facilities in the Kingswood complex include:
- Comfortable seating for 160 people
- Standing space for an additional 60 people
- External speaker system
- Digital organ (Johannes Opus 27)
- Wesley music, media and web broadcast systems which use Bose speakers
- 2 x 60″ display screens
- Waiting room featuring a water cooler and 1 x 50″ display screen
- Toilet facilities (including disabled and baby change facilities)
- Induction loop for the hearing impaired
- Large print books (available on request)
- Velvet and voile curtains
- Vestry
- Service / hymn books
