Birtley Crematorium in Gateshead is located within the grounds of Birtley Cemetery and caters to bereaved families in the local community.

Its funeral chapel is open to members of all religions and beliefs, and can seat up to 80 mourners, with standing space for additional guests.

It has a hearing loop system and wheelchair access for the disabled. You may record details of your loved ones life in the Book of Remembrance as an everlasting tribute. A digital version is also available which can allow friends and family to view the entry at any time.

The beautiful garden of remembrance, a tranquil space for you to remember your loved one, is lined with kerbstones, and memorial plaques made from black granite can be set up here.

There is limited car parking available at the crematorium, but additional parking is available at Windsor Road nearby.

Toilet facilities are available in the Book of Remembrance room.

April to September Weekdays and Saturdays: 9 am to 7 pm Sundays and public holidays: 10 am to 7 pm October to March Weekdays

Saturdays: 9 am to 3.30 pm

Sundays and public holidays: 10 am to 3.30 pm
