A Cloisonné memorial urn is a wonderful way of keeping your loved one’s ashes. It holds one adult set of ashes and comes in an easy-to-carry box.

Handmade from brass with a Cloisonné design. This is a beautiful and ancient technique: the artisan-maker will shape wire to the design then using a porcelain enamel paint on layers until they are the same depth as the wire, creating a unique and stunning piece.

They all feature a screw lid so your loved one’s ashes can be kept securely inside. Due to the handmade nature of the product Cloisonné vases vary very slightly from one to another, but this is the nature of being hand crafted.

Cloisonné is a way of enamelling an object, (typically made of copper) whereby fine wires are used to delineate the decorative areas (cloisons in French, hence Cloisonné) into which enamel paste is applied before the object is fired and polished.

Keeping the ashes

Many people keep their loved one’s ashes at home, some because they are not sure what to do with them, some because they are not yet ready to do something with them and some simply want to keep them close by, in the house.

Sometimes well-meaning friends will give advice such as ‘it’s time to move on’ or ‘you’ll feel better if you scatter/bury them’.

But only you will know how you feel about the loss of your loved one and only you will know when and if the time is right to do something with their ashes.
