Kevin Michael Reader (Kev)
Wonderful Husband of over 50yrs, Son of Evelyn, Brother to Pat and Dave, Father to Michael, Clare and Helen. Grandfather to Lewis, Owen, Toby and Sophie.
Kev asked us to remember his ‘Wonderful and Lucky Life’.
We all need a bit of luck in life, Kev always said his beloved Liverpool FC needed the help of that extra bit of luck on the day and luck was certainly on my side the day I met Kev.
Kev loved life, he loved his family, his work and he loved his retirement at Penwaun.
Kev worked hard to provide for his family in a very different era. Starting out in the Petrol Retail Industry and for most of his working life his working week was long hours, Monday to Friday leaving home before 7am and rarely returning before 7pm at night and regularly dealing with issues over the weekend. Kev’s hard work and obvious talent for the job saw him progress to a Senior Management role in the industry. It was a different era in the 1970’s he wasn’t a ‘hands on’ father but loved his children no less for this. Being a Grandad was one of Kev’s greatest joys especially being able to spend time with them which he didn’t have when his children were young.
Kev loved his retirement and was never happier than when he was building something, no sooner had one project finished he was planning the next. Kev claimed the two acres for his Wildlife Area, “somewhere for me to develop a haven for birds and wildlife – without horses!”. Somewhere he would go to sit in his cabin, set up his spotting scope in peace and quite and fall asleep in a comfy lounger…. He maintained his Wildlife Area planting avenues of trees which we have enjoyed seeing grow each year. He spent days through the summer months mowing paths for us to walk in warm evenings and riding tracks for the inevitable intrusion of “the horses”…. which he secretly loved to see…
Rest in peace my darling Kev with the eternal view of your special place.
A Wonderful and Lucky Life taken far too soon Di x
