Dads final request was for his ashes to be scattered here, at Dunnet Head; at this particular location, which held for him peaceful and happy memories. Dad also liked the idea of being surrounded again with the land, sea and sky; returning to the natural world; being part of the place he lived, grew and enjoyed.
His dear friend Jenny, wrote composed the following to be read in her absence:
“There are stars in the heavens and clouds in the sky.
There is wind blowing by us, rain falling down.
We are born and we thrive; we feed and we grow.
Our season comes on. We fade and we fall.
They say theres tomorrow, no fear, here is our time…
Say my name. I am not gone. Hold me deep.
See my offspring. Therein, I don’t die.”
Finally dad asked that his last words be read:
“I want at the last, that my ashes be scattered upon this land.
To lie under the sun and the wind, the rain and the starry night,
to be taken back into the Earths endless cycles of change, from which all beings arise.”
